Even dogs know that blood isn’t what makes you family. This dog has taken on armadillo pups as her own. In fact, she’s so convinced they’re hers that her body started producing milk. Sadly, the armadillo’s actual mother was killed by a tractor in a field in Brazil. The farmer took them back home, where the dog started loving them and took on nursing. The Dog Aging Project is looking for doggy volunteers to participate in a long-term study on aging. Starting in November, pet parents can nominate their canines for a clinical trial. The study, funded by the National Institute on Aging, is researching the genetic environmental factors that contribute to again. The chosen dogs will be given rapamycin, a cancer chemotherapeutic drug used by humans. In low doses in mice, the medication has proven to extend lifespan and impart aging benefits. Researchers hope the study will help vets learn information on how to better preserve mobility and cognition into doggo old age.…
